THE COMPANY Looking for Gods From the space occupied by aerial circus techniques, Circo Mínimo extracted the basic concepts of its work: precision as a need for safety, collective responsibility and trust between players. Ever since its creation, in 1988, the identity of the Company is deeply connected to those techniques and signs, turned into a way of working, and justified by the content of the works in its repertoire, plays that make clear the unity of Circo Mínimo's exploration. Intimately related, search of perfection and solitude are the main themes of the repertoire. By search of perfection the Company understands an attempt to approach the Gods, rather than technical perfection. But any human attempt to get close to 'Gods' exposes the mundane side of man: his (her) solitude, fragility, difficulty in communication, even if those are steps towards the search of the divine. |
To overcome those limits takes perception of the individual, and knowledge of the collective. By mixing theatre and circus, Circo Mínimo creates live performance connecting technique and content, depth and lightness, routes and transformation, entertainment and questioning material.
